Whethan exudes kinetic electronic energy on debut EP, ‘Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1’

The formal release of his debut EP, Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1, grew Whethan‘s blossoming career as an electronic wunderkind into full bloom. The 19-year-old emblem of sonic versatility has progressively attracted and engaged an audience through a steady stream of singles and remixes, but offers listeners a a more robust look at his sound through the eight-track EP.

Unsurprisingly kinetic, given the broader context of Whethan’s catalogue, Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1 exudes a lighthearted vibrancy that radiates with particular brilliance on selections like HONNE feature, “Radar.” The EP rounds up previous singles, “Good Nights,” the smash “Superlove,” and “Be Like You,” for a sonic bouquet that sees several other cuts, like “Top Shelf” and “Be Like You” join the bunch. Guest highlights include vocals from Bipolar Sunshine, and additional contributions from Broods, Oh Wonder, and Mascolo. That the EP’s title concludes with “Vol. 1” can, for fans, only fortuitously indicate an ensuing installment to come at a later date.
