Avicii was the second most googled search term in 2018 worldwide, and his documentary is coming back to Netflix

The sudden passing of beloved dance crossover icon, Avicii, sent waves of sorrow across the the global music community. So much so, that Google recently revealed in their 2018 search trends that the term “Avicii” was the second most searched query in the world, right behind “World Cup.” Seven of the top 10 most search terms were individuals who passed this year: Mac Miller, Stan Lee, Anthony Bourdain, XXXTentacion, Stephen Hawking, and Kate Spade. “Black Panther” and “Meghan Markle” were the two remaining search terms.

After Avicii’s death, the Netflix documentary, Avicii: True Stories, was pulled from the streaming provider. The film, shot by Swedish director Levan Tsikurishvili, posed Tim Bergling in a bright light while calling attention to his health struggles while touring. This coverage became an even bigger topic of international discussion following the superstar’s alleged suicide. On December 28, the documentary will return to Netflix. The film received recent qualification for Oscar consideration, and will debuts in theaters at New York City’s Cinema Village December 21 to 27 and LA’s Laemmle theater December 14 through 20.
