Halsey calls out Victoria’s Secret Fashion show for lack of LGBTQ representation
In a statement on Instagram, Halsey called attention to a lack of inclusivity in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on behalf of the LGBTQ community. This post comes a month after the live spectacle with musical performances from herself, Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexha, and The Chainsmokers. After the event, the chief marketing officer for L Brands, Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, Ed Razek was quickly put on the chopping block after stating in a Vogue interview that transsexuals are not part of the 42-minute fantasy that is the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The openly bisexual pop-star used the moment to direct attention to GLSEN, an organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ youth. She also took time to support the trans community and define her definition of fantasy, which includes “complete and total acceptance.”
Halsey recently collaborated with Illenium, who remixed her number four Billboard chart-topper, “Without Me.”
