Privilege and Amnesia Ibiza face charges & license suspension for illegal renovations
Ibiza mainstay Amnesia has received another slap on the wrist from island authorities. No stranger to having charges slapped upon it, the superclub found itself in hot water with the San Antonio counsel this time around due to illegal renovations that allowed it to fit more people inside and thus break fire safety code. In particular, they’d expanded their upper dancefloor space without proper permission.
They weren’t the only culprit; fellow island institution Privilege also got caught for similar adjustments to their architecture. The club had been discovered as opening up small spaces not meant for use in order to expand their capacity by 500 people, in addition to obstructing a few of their emergency exits. Both clubs have been slapped with fines totaling €55,000 and license suspension until they revert their renovations back to code. Luckily, this saga unfolded with plenty of off-season times to meet the requirements before they reopen.
