Benny L lands Beatport’s inaugural drum & bass No. 1
Drum & bass continues to assert its dominance worldwide, most recently with the genre’s first-ever Beatport No. 1, courtesy of Benny L.
The Hospital Records artist’s hefty remix of John Holt’s reggae classic, “Police In Helicopter,” shot to the top of the Beatport ranks, knocking chart-topping house artists like Rebuke and ARTBAT out of the way to claim the No. 1 spot. This is a drum & bass milestone for the Beatport Top 100, which is typically dominated by assorted genres of house music.
“To see it at the top of the multi-genre chart on Beatport is truly amazing,” Benny L says of the track. “I never thought it would get this far.”
The drum & bass community likely saw this achievement coming, though. Benny L was recently named “Best Newcomer” at the recent Drum&BassArena Awards and has been on the rise through labels like Metalheadz and Audioporn Records.
The chart-topping remix is part of Hospital Records’ Sick Music 2019 compilation and came out January 11.
