Flamingosis begins the new year with new sounds on ‘Right As Rain’
Flamingosis declared “new year, new beats & new me” as the impetus behind his latest track, “Right As Rain.”
That mantra describes the product of his latest intent right on the nose: he’s certainly beat many to the punch by releasing some of the first notable music of 2019, and with that, a new sound. While we’ve come to know the Brooklyn and New Jersey-based producer for his uniquely summery, laid-back beats, “Right As Rain” is a change in direction.
Though it pulls from some of those same retro inspirations that Flamingosis has made his signature, it also ventures into new territory that heavily references old school hip-hop beats. At points, the track edges on the trip-hop heard from artists like Gramatik or Big Gigantic, but on “Right As Rain,” Flamingosis delivers it in his own way.
