Idris Elba plays a struggling DJ in new Netflix comedy ‘Turn Up Charlie’
Netflix has announced the premiere of a brand new comedy series, Turn Up Charlie, starring certified renaissance man Idris Elba as Charlie — a struggling DJ on his last chance. A little outside the norm for the James Bond prospect and venerated UK house legend, the eight-episode first season centers on Charlie as he reluctantly accepts a job as a “manny” to his famous best friend’s daughter and hilarity likely ensues between the perennial bachelor DJ and problem child daughter.
The series, slated for a March 15 debut, was co-created by Elba and Gary Reich was co-produced by the Luther star’s Green Door Pictures and Reich’s Brown Eyed Boy Productions. See the first look at Idris Elba’s upcoming comedy Turn Up Charlie below.
