TÂCHES fuses minimal dance and palpable global flavors in new ‘Heart Over Heels’ EP

TÂCHES further expands his audio palate through the release of his glistening Heart Over Heels EP, off his Glitter Cowboy imprint. This project is yet another example of the British enigma’s appetite to carve his own path through worldly sounds, inventive melodies, and minimal arrangements. From the sounds of it, TÂCHES is uninterested in following trends, yet has a down-to-earth appreciation for the music he creates. The result of this appreciation is provocative house music that will have listeners romanticizing the world around them.

The EP begins with “Sofia’s Theme” featuring Arum Flowers, a shared contrast between a closeness to consciousness coupled with distance from routine. The Latin percussion stays on a steady path while harp strings and ambient voices pass by. All of a sudden, a pause in routine takes listeners on an infectious, walking bassline that grooves below a string of vocal excerpts from Flowers.

“Dances With Wolves” brings a similar percussion rhythm with vocals above and below the mix passing by. A flute melody comes into play, acting as a protagonist on the track above a slowly creeping guitar melody that crescendos alongside its partner wind instrument.

“I Don’t Look Back” is a slow burner with swinging percussion and present bassline that lays the foundation for whispering high end synths and vocal ad libs from Flowers amidst a noodling guitar.

“Meet You In The Moonlight” maintains a worldly percussion with a waltzing bass and guitar set that introduce a strong flute presence. TÂCHES serenades with a soft piano towards the culmination of all playing parts that build to a larger than life section, perpetuating a disco feel.

“Stay Together” immediately strikes with a relatively gritty bassline while various softer elements flutter through the arrangement. The bass stays persistent and grounded, eventually joined by an electric keys melody and wistful vocal presence.

This song, similar to the rest, guides listeners into a beautiful lull to contemplate the sounds previously heard and prepare for the next scene. These thought-provoking moments and unique melodies and sounds is what makes TÂCHES’ latest extended play something special and worth listening to.
