Cassian spins sonic silk on new single, ‘Same Things’

Cassian, a favorite duly of RÜFÜS DU SOL, and of the Australian alternative dance trio’s newly minted, Rose Avenue, has returned to the imprint with his latest effort, “Same Things.”

A silken-bodied production that fluidly paces forth, the melodic house offering calls on the vocal talents of Gabrielle Current. Cassian suspends Current’s sleek vocal contribution atop a lush bed of rounded synths that entreat listeners to sink into the song’s smooth construction. The track’s mid-tempo arrangement, and bright electronic elements work symbiotically to craft a current of sonic chill that complements the sensual indie sound aesthetic that Rose Avenue has cultivated.

With mixing credits on two of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s studio efforts, Solace and Bloomin his back pocket, and a prior Rose Avenue debut via “Lafayette” in his recent rearview, it’s clear that Cassian is no stranger to the landscape of sound production. Listeners who can’t get enough of Cassian’s style need not consider the “repeat” button their only method of satiation: Cassian will join RÜFÜS DU SOL for a number of the group’s Australian tour dates, including Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and more.
