JAWNS of Gent & Jawns launches solo career with debut EP on RL Grime’s new Sable Valley imprint [Stream]
RL Grime‘s new Sable Valley imprint released its first EP, House of God, the first solo project from producer JAWNS, of Gent & Jawns. The two-track collection marks the announcement of JAWNS’ solo career after a long history of touring with the likes of Diplo, Flosstradamus, TroyBoi, and more.
The tracks below are favorites from RL Grimes’s last halloween mix and amalgamations of buzzing electro sounds and knocking hip-hop rhythm. “House of God” carries stringy synths that swarm like a flies, whereas “Psycho” is an fittingly onomatopoeic select that wears its name on its sleeve. It’s rhythmic with a similar electro tone to the EP’s titular offering, utilizing a higher octave on the synth. Both tracks take listeners on a wild ride that continues to lay out RL Grime’s label’s sound direction.
