Khalid launches fine arts center in his hometown of El Paso for underserved youth

What do superstars do after reaching peak financial security? Khalid makes sure he gives back to the hometown that gave him life: El Paso, Texas.

The R&B crooner launched The Great Khalid Foundation in El Paso on May 10th. It’s a music and fine arts institution focused on underserved communities. The website for the foundation says its plan is to cultivate “an atmosphere of support and freedom for kids to dream BIG! Through our music education programs, scholarship awards, and gift giveaways we are investing in our children and in their future.” Options for volunteering, donating, or sponsorship is are available.

The Great Khalid Foundation shares scholarship recipients on Instagram. The one featured in this post reads, “If I wasn’t in the position I am in life right now, I would’ve became a music teacher. Luckily, I get to teach in a way I would’ve never imagined! I wanna give a congratulations to all of the Performing Arts Scholarship winners! Everything is super new right now and it’s all a work in progress but you gotta start somewhere! Manifestation is super important! One day I WILL open up a school, but I gotta believe in myself.”

This year, Khalid released his second studio album, Free Spirit, in April which included the Billboard chart topping “Talk” produced by Disclosure.
