The USA Congressional Black Caucus pushes for A$AP Rocky’s prison release
Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, a member of the USA congress, disclosed to TMZ in a brief video interview that he and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus will be continuing to “weigh in forcefully [to the Swedish government] until A$AP Rocky is free.” The American rapper had been arrested in Stockholm earlier in July 2019 under assault charges following a video posted to his account depicting a physical incident between himself, his security, and people harassing them on the street. As a result, A$AP was forced to cancel numerous events abroad—including Wireless Festival in the UK, and Tomorrowland.
Andre Carson, a fellow Black Caucus member, and Adriano Espaillat, who’s part of the Hispanic Caucus, joined Representative Jeffries on the Capitol steps earlier today, July 17, to call on Sweden for A$AP Rocky’s release, and the State Department is also reportedly involved in the case. “The situation with A$AP Rocky is unfortunate, it’s outrageous, it needs to be addressed,” voiced Jeffries.
For yrs, the hip hop police harassed artists in NYC, LA, the dirty South & beyond.

Some thought those days had ended.
But racially-charged policing endures.
