Over the past month, American rapper, A$AP Rocky has been detained in Swedish jail after facing an assault charge alongside team members Bladimir Corniel and David Rispers for allegedly attacking 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari in Stockholm on June 30. Prosecutors of the case allege that the trio beat, kick, and threatened Jafari with a bottle. Rocky’s camp has plead not guilty to the charges, maintaining that they were fighting in self-defense and that they never involved a bottle in the fight.

The Swedish court ruled Friday that the rapper would be allowed to return to the US to await the results of the trial, which are expected to be shared August 14. The artist has been in custody since July 3. Swedish prosecutors asked that the rapper face a six-month sentence and remain in jail up until the official trial results arrive, deeming him a probable flight risk.

In light of his imminent return to the US, Rocky posted on his official social media accounts, thanking fans for their support. He says the experience has been both “humbling” and “very difficult.”
