Hardwell turns back time for his fan-dubbed ‘Old School ID,’ now formally ‘Retrograde’

While Hardwell may currently be revered for his spirited big-room tastings, the Revealed Recordings boss spent the beginning of this decade inventing more subdued, synth-doused house productions. Originals including the likes of “Encoded,” “Molotov,” and “Zero 76,” alongside his mentor Tiësto were three Hardwell releases that admirably epitomized this reflective approach before evolving towards his present-day direction.

In April of 2018 and once again in the midst of his Brooklyn Mirage performance that following June, fan recordings surfaced online that showcased an unreleased Hardwell production that he prefaced with “who’s ready for that old school Hardwell progressive house music?”

Extending through every performance that preceded his temporary retirement from behind the decks this past October, Hardwell rinsed the accordingly fan-designated “Old School ID” that emphatically contained the essence of the Dutchman’s music circa 2010. After nearly a year and a half of fine tuning and amounting an overwhelming degree of anticipation, Hardwell has officially assigned it a formal label under “Retrograde,” which will serve as the lead single from his forthcoming Revealed Volume 10 compilation album.
