Kanye West announces release date of upcoming ninth studio album, ‘Jesus is King’
After repeated unconfirmed leaks of Yandhi, Kanye West‘s expected ninth studio album, it appears the LP has been canned in favor of a new record, titled Jesus is King, reportedly due on September 27. The Chicago rapper’s wife, Kim Kardashian-West shared an image of a notebook with a 12-track listing, complete with a title and release date.
Jesus is King is set to arrive nearly one year to the day after Yandhi was initially expected to drop. What would have been a quick follow up to last summer’s Ye, a la the Wyoming Sessions, got pushed to November 2018, before ultimately being delayed indefinitely. Summer 2019 brought a number of unsubstantiated Yandhi leaks, and now the fabled album might become an elusive figment of West’s official catalog. The rapper’s most recent focus however has been on his traveling Sunday Service live series, and judging by the new album’s name and tracklisting, we may be in for a true gospel offering from Kanye West come this fall.
