Man dies after suffering ‘medical emergency’ at Lollapalooza
A 24-year-old man attending Grant Park, Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival this past Saturday died after suffering a “medical emergency,” NBC Chicago reports.
The man, whom first responders found near the festival’s Perry’s Stage, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was soon pronounced dead, according to the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications. Officials have not yet shared a cause of death.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family during this difficult time,” the OEMC offered in a recent statement.
Last year, a 16-year-old boy from Mundelein, Illinois died upon attending the festival, with 160 others hospitalized. The number of reported hospitalizations thus far for 2019’s iteration is significantly lower than previous years, likely due in part to the extended weekend’s milder weather.
