Mike Posner was promptly airlifted to a Colorado hospital on August 8 after sustaining a rattlesnake bite. The incident occurred as the “Cooler Than Me” artist was in the midst of his nine-month walk across the nation, which started near the Atlantic Ocean and is supposed to conclude along the Pacific.

“I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for eight more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake! That venom is no joke! I got to the hospital and got anti-venom in time,” Posner wrote in an Instagram post that showed him strapped to a gurney. “I’ll be here [in the hospital] a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but [I’ll be] enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in awhile,” Posner added.

The artist shared that he “can’t wait to get back on The Walk,” as a clear sign that he intends to finish the journey he started once he is well enough to do so. For now, Posner is tasked with relearning how to walk and get around as he regains motor function, a challenge that he acknowledged in a sardonic tweet from this week:
