BREAKING: Man charged in connection with Mac Miller’s death

Nearly one year to the day of Mac Miller’s tragic passing, federal prosecutors have moved to charge a man in connection with the rapper’s death. The 42-page criminal charge alleges that 28-year-old Cameron James Pettit supplied Miller with the drugs that ultimately killed him—counterfeit, fentanyl-laced oxycodone pills. Unsealed exchanges between Miller and Pettit reveal that the Swimming rapper asked Pettit for percocet just days before he was found unresponsive in his Studio City home on Sept. 7, 2018. An autopsy determined the Pittsburgh-born rhymer died of an overdose of alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl.

Search warrants were served at multiple locations wherein investigators recovered a plastic bag reportedly containing the fake pills that were allegedly supplied by Pettit. Furthermore, the charges filed reveal Instagram messages between the suspected dealer and others reacting to Miller’s death last September.

According to the criminal complaint, in a text message, Pettit cautions, “I think I should probably not post anything …just to be smart.” In another text to Pettit about how he was doing, he allegedly responded with, “I am not great… most likely I will die in jail.”

This story is still developing.
