Diplo hops back in the saddle for Thomas Wesley record, ‘Lonely,’ with the Jonas Brothers

A man who characteristically wears many musical hats apltly describes Diplo‘s approach to production throughout 2019. The producer has demonstrated the ease his amorphous affinity to reinvent himself, with the release of house EP, Higher Ground, and his establishment of an house-hailing imprint by the same name—as just a solitary example.

Not to be overlooked in the bountiful sonic web of his recent ventures is Diplo’s development of his country-geared project, Thomas Wesley. Having wrapped his inaugural Higher Ground showcase, hosted at New York’s Brooklyn Mirage on September 22, Diplo now turns his attention to his Thomas Wesley moniker with “Lonely.”

The record features—believe it or not—the Jonas Brothers, marking yet another high-profile collaboration from the DJ who’s worked with just about every variation of artistry in the game at this point in his storied career. The Jonas Brothers’ triad of vocals is pop-oriented in nature, sitting smoothly atop an upbeat arrangement that derives a rugged, Western authenticity from metallic guitar chords. “Lonely” is the third single from Diplo’s forthcoming country album; predecessors include “So Long” and “Heartless.”
