‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ producer behind forthcoming Michael Jackson biopic
Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King has obtained rights to produce a Michael Jackson biopic. The film will be written by three-time Oscar-nominee, John Logan. Logan netted Oscar nominations for his work on Aviator, Hugo, and Gladiator, respectively. Logan and King will reportedly prepare the script before setting the production at a studio.
The currently untitled project will chronicle Jackson’s life from his breakout as a childhood star to his eventual death in June 2009. The biopic notably will not be a “sanitized” depiction, sources told Deadline. Further details, such as the actors and actresses who will be cast in the production, are pending. A projected release date has not been set.
The Michael Jackson-focused film is not King’s only biopic currently in the works; in early November, King, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners production company, and Paramount Pictures collaboratively secured the rights to produce a biopic on the Bee Gees.
