Squarepusher announces new album, shares first single in five years, ‘Vortrack’

On January 31, 2020, Squarepusher will return to Warp with a new LP entitled Be Up A Hello.

This will be Squarepusher’s (real name is Tom Jenkinson) first album released after five-year hiatus wherein the IDM maven spent his time on various other pursuits including a stint composing music for the BBC’s kids channel CBeebies.

After such a long break, Jenkinson is ready to dive back into analogue for another series of erratic, symphonic compositions that will be welcome to fans of his early work.

“Whilst analogue sounds can be cliched, if you look at the processes that generate them analytically, there are still ways you can create new sonic palates,” Jenkinson says.

Jenkinson has shared the first of these new sonic palates which takes the form of the album’s lead single, “Vortrack.” The undefinable break-beat feel of the track is right where Squarepusher belongs, but all the subtleties make it clear that this is brand new music.
