Moogfest 2020 officially canceled

Moogfest 2020 has officially been canceled due to logistical reasons. The organizers Moog Music officially announced the North Carolina festival would not be returning next year earlier today via blog. The event was set to take place April 16-19, 2020 in Durham. Ticket holders who pre-purchased passes will be able to receive their refunds.

Since 2010, Moogfest has delivered immersive visual and technological programming complemented by a range of musical acts. The festival did not take place in 2015, but returned in 2016 with a move from its original location in Asheville to Durham. Its 2018 edition sparked controversy in regards to its phase one lineup announcement and its spotlight on female and non-binary talent—prompting artist Caroline Polachek to cancel her impending performance.

Moog Music will potentially bring back Moogfest or program a similar event in the years to come.

“As an organization, our purpose is to create deeply meaningful experiences and relationships in order to continually enrich our creative community. This intermission will be used to focus on the future of Moogfest and to investigate new ways of exploring the future of music, art, and technology,” stated Moog Music in their post.
