Infected Mushroom unloads new psytrance epic ‘Ani Mevushal’
Infected Mushroom gives a taste of their forthcoming LP with “Ani Mevushal,” teaming up with Bliss as the Israeli group revisits the fantastically possessed psy-rock sound that carried them to stardom over a decade ago.
The latest track takes updated inspiration from 2007’s Vicious Delicious, what many consider the psytrance outfit’s defining work. Channeling both the instrumentation and song structure of epics like “Heavyweights” and “Becoming Insane,” the new single is a spun-out journey of sound design and electronic songwriting. The bridge between uplifting trance melodies and headbanging guitar licks is one that seems foreign to most, but is one that Infected Mushroom has proven just weird enough to cross time and time again. With the group’s upcoming spring performances being billed as live shows, it seems like the guitar and psynth heavy sound is officially back on the menu.
Infected Mushroom’s upcoming album, More of the Same is out on Monstercat Records February 20.
