Hardwell admits there’s no return timetable in first interview since 2018

It has been nearly 500 days since Hardwell took the stage in Amsterdam for what would be his concluding performance before enacting an indefinite hiatus from the DJ and touring life. While the Revealed Recordings head honcho didn’t step completely out of the spotlight, releasing tracks like “Retrograde,” embarking on his “The Story Of Hardwell” social series and making surprise showings at label events, any direct communication from him was more or less nonexistent as he shifted focus toward his personal life.

With his “The Story of Hardwell” reflection officially coming to an end and the release of its coinciding best of Hardwell album this past New Music Friday, the sultan of big room gave his first formal one-on-one since 2018 on the second episode of Domeno’s newly formed Revealed Podcast.

Throughout the conversation’s 60-minute extent, Hardwell remained nothing short of sincere, detailing that he’s truly “never been happier.” When asked to divulge a little further into the exact reasoning behind the hiatus, Hardwell admitted that Avicii’s passing had legitimately pushed him to reevaluate because he felt that he could never be relaxed, adding that he never had time for ordinary things such as spending birthdays with friends.

On the concluding and ultimately most-desired topic that’s been at the forefront of minds since the moment his absence was instituted, Hardwell confessed that he genuinely has no idea of when he’ll be behind the decks again. He explained that until he creates music that gives him “butterflies” when thinking about performing it live, his sabbatical remains intact.
