Porky kicks off new ‘Road To Desert Hearts’ with a grooving EP
The Desert Hearts crew have announced something special for fans in the lead up to their annual marathon gathering at Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. The Road To Desert Hearts has thus began its unfurling, with new EPs from Mikey Lion, Marbs, Porky, and Lee Reynolds in the pipeline.
Porky, known for his off-kilter house sets and vibrant energy, kicks off the series alongside Mitch Dodge with a grooving Chameleon. The two-tracker does well in capturing the aesthetic Porky has built for himself over the years; the title opener, for example, is a smooth ride through pulsating basslines, minimal synthwork, and just the right amount of vocal sampling to add energy into the mix. Chameleon floats into grittier currents with “Big Dog,” a throbbing, acid-fueled piece that fits best in a darkened warehouse setting
