Spotify pilots songwriter pages

A nascent new feature on Spotify will pull back the artist-producer curtain to foreground the work of songwriters to a greater degree. The streaming platform, which began publicly displaying song credits in 2018, has initiated a beta launch of songwriter pages, akin to Spotify artist pages.

To access the songwriter pages, a streamer needs only to click the songwriter’s accreditation on a given production. If the listener had selected the artist’s name, they would be directed to the artist’s page. Similarly, when a user selects a songwriter’s name, they will be linked to the songwriter’s page, where they will find the catalog of songs that the writer has penned as well as “Written By” playlists.

Currently, the function is only available for a limited number of artists, such as Teddy Geiger, Victoria Monet, Missy Elliot, Mark Ronson, and Brandi Carlile. Expectantly, more songwriters will get their own individual pages as the feature matures.
