A ‘celebration of Glastonbury’ will take place on BBC in lieu of festival
Glastonbury recently announced that its 50th anniversary edition would be postponed amid public health concerns surrounding COVID-19. Though the news has brought sadness to many, BBC is doing its best to keep spirits high with a special edition broadcast in celebration of the festival’s longstanding legacy.
“We are already looking forward to next year’s festival at Worthy Farm and will now look at providing our audiences with a celebration of Glastonbury in June,” stated BBC in their announcement of the broadcast. No exact date has been given yet.
Programming also remains to be announced. It’s likely, however, that the channel’s large archive of past festival footage will be streamed. The news arrives just days after Glastonbury had unveiled its lineup, which included headlining performances from Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, and Taylor Swift.
