Concerts, other live events to resume in Missouri

Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s state reopening plan will permit concerts and other live events to resume on May 4. The Show Me Strong recovery initiative absolves the coronavirus-related ban on large events and gatherings, but venues will still be required to honor social distancing guidelines.

Although concert capacity will not be reduced—as it is for the retail stores and restaurants that will also reactivate on May 4—event organizers must ensure that there is a minimum of 6 feet of distance between each respective attendee to minimize the potential for further spread of the novel respiratory virus. Despite Governor Parson’s repeal of the live event limitation, St. Louis, Springfield, and Kansas City—each of which are reputed as musical hotspots within Missouri—will not host events during the week of May 4. St. Louis mayor, Lyda Krewson, stated that the city’s stay-at-home order would remain in effect as other parts of the state slowly began to reopen.
