Charlotte de Witte returns with gospel inspired ‘Return to Nowhere’ EP
Saturday nights meet Sunday mornings as Charlotte de Witte‘s latest release, Return to Nowhere, gives the Belgian producer’s tried and true techno sound a gospel inspired tuneup.
The EP’s title track is de Witte at her finest, delivering the pulsating beats that tastemaker DJ has built her name on while simultaneously testing her own creative boundaries as a producer. Although the vocals offer a unique, harrowing embrace, their true beauty is found in the space that they create in the mix as de Witte manages to emulate the acoustic amplification of a true church choir.
De Witte notes that the hymanl approach to the vocals on the EP “[creates] a certain atmosphere with different layers and emotions that really touch me on a deeper level.”
