Lollapalooza 2020 cancelled, virtual event planned as replacement

It’ll be a festival season we’ll never forget… or remember, for that matter.

With Coachella already looking at a possible second cancellation, and a slew of other international festival landmarks already looking at 2021, with the news of Lollapalooza officially folding this year’s event, this year’s festival season is all but over.

Rest assured, while Lollapalooza will not take over Chicago’s Grant Park this year, a virtual event is planned in lieu of the summer event circuit standout. From July 30 – August 2, the festival plans to broadcast performances from around Chicago, share archival sets from Lolla’s international iterations, and unseen footage from the event’s long, colorful history.

Lollapalooza‘s Chile, Argentina, and Brazil editions had Travis Scott, Martin Garrix, Lana Del Rey, Gwen Stefani, and Armin van Buuren slated as this year’s bill-topping acts, and while the 2020 editions won’t go on as planned this year, Lolla promises a momentous return next year to celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary. Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming virtual Lollapalooza celebration planned for later this summer and read the festival’s full statement below.
