Record Store Day lineup revealed
Record Store Day is typically April 17, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual event that celebrates the culture of the independently owned record store has been moved to three new dates: Aug. 29, Sept. 26, and Oct. 24.
The first collection includes Robyn’s self-titled 2005 album, The Weeknd’s My Dear Melancholy EP, Tyler, the Creator’s Cherry Bomb (and the instrumental version), a David Bowie live album from the 1974 Soul Tour, Odd Future’s The OF Tape Vol. 2, the Cure’s Seventeen Seconds and Bloodflowers, a new live EP from Brittany Howard, John Prine’s first four albums in a vinyl box set, an album of excavated Thelonious Monk concert recordings, a five Philip Glass album set titled The Essential, and Charli XCX’s Vroom Vroom EP.
On Aug. 29, there will be releases from Billie Eilish, Christine and the Queens Lou Reed and John Cale, Brian Eno, Paul McCartney’s solo album gets a 50th anniversary pressing, the Kinks, Mikal Cronin, Kevin Morby, Iggy Pop, k.d. lang, Mac DeMarco, Galaxie 500, and reissues from Gorillaz, Slint, Wipers, Sun Ra, Roxy Music, Throwing Muses, and many more.
On Sept. 26 releases include Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Roger Waters, Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name,” Tegan and Sara, Ryuichi Sakamoto, The Replacements, Nas, Natalie Prass, The Doors, Jon Brion, Lil Kim, and Fleetwood Mac.
Oct. 24 features Beck, Booker T. and the M.G.’s, Miles Davis, Freddie Gibbs, Madlib, Philip Glass, and The Rolling Stones.
