Kanye West polling at 2% since announcing presidential bid

On July 4, Kanye West sent the Internet into a frenzy by officially announcing his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election. Although skeptics were quick to point out that he had failed to register his candidacy with the Federal Elections Commission, West has continued to move forward with his campaign. Ye outlined his platform in a recent interview, and is now polling at two percent in a national presidential poll.

According to new data from Redfield & Wilton Strategies, Joe Biden (D) is the favored 2020 presidential candidate among 2,000 registered voters who participated in a national poll run by the consulting firm. Redfield & Wilton Strategies specifically sought to determine where Americans would be allocating their votes come November, and how Kanye’s inclusion on the list of candidates would affect citizen support.

In the first run of the national poll, which did not name the rapper as a potential presidential elect, Biden led with 48% of voter support, followed by President Donald Trump (R) at 40%. In a subsequent version that did include Kanye as a candidate, Biden’s percentage remained the same, Trump’s dipped to 39%, and Kanye’s weighed in at 2%.
