Aluna keeps the hits coming with ‘Envious,’ accompanying music video
Aluna is no stranger to a hit. She’s released a steady stream of traction-gaining singles from her forthcoming album, Renaissance, and “Envious” now joins the corral of cuts to be released ahead of the LP.
As to be expected, the single is nothing short of infectious, with a pulsing backdrop that mixes with Aluna’s punching vocals. Laced with an attitude that lures the listener in while striking an emotive chord, “Envious” is filled with energy.
In addition to releasing “Envious,” Aluna spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music about Renaissance. During the interview, Aluna described the inspiration behind the album’s name, stating,
“It is really about who inspired me. I wasn’t the first. I followed. I watched people breaking boundaries. I really felt like there was a Black renaissance going on, especially in film and at that kind of grassroots level where the writing all the way to the directing was being done by Black women. Then I was seeing Black cosplayers, Black girl ravers. And I was just like, ‘Oh my God, all this is happening.”
Renaissance will be out in full on August 28 via Mad Decent.
