Anderson .Paak recruits Rick Ross for funk demolition on, ‘CUT EM IN’
After taking topics of police brutality and racial injustice head on with protest-fueled track, “Lockdown,” Anderson .Paak returns with his third single of the year. Pivoting to bombastic verses and tongue-in-cheek nature, the Oxnard-hailing artist joins forces with Rick Ross on “CUT EM IN.” .Paak’s prior release tapped Noname, J.I.D., and Jay Rock for a spin on “Lockdown,” in a compact remix bundle.
Produced by Hit-Boy, G. Ry, and Corbett, “CUT EM IN,” features a groovy beat and an addictive hook, tag-teamed by electric guitar and piano. Pervaded by upbeat funk, the hip-hop production provides the bedrock for the two rappers to trade high-spirited lines on sharing profits among friends and money matters. With brief highlights of signature interludes from .Paak, the energized cut puts the Grammy winner’s rap flow on full view. “CUT EM IN” will appear on the Madden NFL 21 soundtrack.
