Anderson .Paak refuels ‘Lockdown’ with remix featuring work from J.I.D, Jay Rock, Noname

Anderson .Paak is giving his police bruality-focused production, “Lockdown,” a second wind with three different versions of the single: an instrumental and an acapella rendition of the cerebral cut, in addition to a remix that features J.I.D, Jay Rock, and Noname.

The alternative stylings grace Lockdown (Remix Bundle), a package that also includes the radio edit of “Lockdown” and the video edit with Jay Rock. Racial injustice and the Black Lives Matter movement remain lyrical cruxes of the rework, on which the cast of invited collaborators also address the COVID-19 pandemic head-on.

“Lockdown” was released on Juneteenth in tandem with a music video that poignantly chronicled the experience of participating in a protest. The visual also paid homage to the black Americans who unjustly died in recent months and years, including George Floyd and Trayvon Martin.
