Honey Dijon shares ‘La Femme Fantastique’ ahead of new LP

Ahead of her forthcoming LP Black Girl Magic, Honey Dijon shares the second single supporting the album’s release. “La Femme Fantastique” arrives just a week after lead single “Not About You” with Hadiya George. Black Girl Magic‘s second single is a sexy house track with seductive vocals provided by featured artist Josh Caffe. The track is accompanied by an equally erotic video, courtesy of animator Ciaràn McCusker. In an interview with Paper Magazine, Honey Dijon told Matt Moen about the video’s inspiration,

“I really wanted to create a video that was speaking to queer people, wanting to tell their own story and celebrating sexuality, trans sexuality, nonbinary sexuality and what really happens in these queer spaces… It’s something that we have been talking about during this album that I’m working on, Black Girl Magic, is that the songs are a lot more introspective, dealing with oppression and love. We’re living in the social media age where people are bullied and attacked so much.”

In addition to the new track and video, Honey Dijon launched a new website, which currently houses “La Femme Fantastique’s” explicit video. View the website here, or watch the clean edit of the video below.

Make no mistake—dance music is born from black culture. Without black creators, innovators, selectors, and communities, the electronic dance music we hold so dear would simply not exist. In short, dance music is deeply indebted to the global black community and we need to be doing more. Black artists and artists of color have played a profound role in shaping the sound and culture of dance music and now more than ever, it is necessary for everyone in the music community to stand up for the people that have given us so much. Dancing Astronaut pledges to make every effort to be a better ally, a stronger resource, and a more accountable member of the global dance music community. Black Lives Matter—get involved here:
