Ava Petrillo guests on The BreakBomb Project’s sophomore outing of 2020, ‘WHY’

There is perhaps no greater reminder that we are deeply immersed in the digital age than releases that result from online introductions in the music space. “WHY,” arriving courtesy of The BreakBomb Project with vocal touches from bedroom producer and singer-songwriter, Ava Petrillo, is the latest example, and as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to relegate collaborative activity to the Internet, it’s clear that it won’t be the last.

On June 25, The BreakBomb Project caught streamers’ attention with “Deep End.” Doubling as Brandon Greenstein’s first single of the decade under The BreakBomb Project umbrella and his pledge to continue the career-building content tear that he undertook in 2019, “Deep End” caught the ears of many listeners, including Petrillo. Following an Instagram-aided introduction, Greenstein and Petrillo began trading creative ideas, and now, “WHY” arrives as one of the outputs of their ongoing exchanges.

The vocal-centric cut is The BreakBomb Project’s sophomore showing of the calendar year, and notably marks a double release for Petrillo, who, beyond guesting on Greenstein’s latest electronic candidate, also gifted “Any Longer Now” on September 25.
