Gorillaz tease new ‘Song Machine’ material with The Cure frontman Robert Smith
After launching the inaugural season of Song Machine earlier this year, Gorillaz are now amping up for their sixth installment. Unveiling a teaser image and visual appetizer on socials, the digital ensemble previewed the forthcoming track which features The Cure‘s frontman Robert Smith. Entitled “Strange Timez,” the new song will premiere on September 9 at 12:15 p.m. EST.
The latest animation finds Gorillaz journeying through space as a dizzying array of electronic sonics provide the foundation for Smith’s impassioned vocals. The upcoming episode’s collaboration charts just one of several formidable artist matchups throughout Song Machine‘s debut season, with Schoolboy Q-assisted “PAC-MAN,” Octavian-equipped, “Friday 13th,” and more preceding.
