GRiZ drops versatile album, ‘Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 3’
Multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer GRiZ has released his highly-anticipated new album, Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 3. As summer sunsets into fall, the electro-funk maven chases the passing season with warm melodies and cozy harmonies for a nostalgic project. The LP is filled with uplifting melodies that evoke a sense of optimism from the Michigan native, who curates a canvas that demonstrates his sonic maturity and artistic versatility across his extensive career.
In a press release, GRiZ stated,
“I wanted to recreate the carefree good vibes you feel when it’s just about sunset on the perfect summer evening and everything is the most beautiful shimmering tint of gold. Chasing The Golden Hour is that magical moment, it is the cool breeze against your back, it is sweet summer swagger in musical form.”
Staying true to the series, the album embodies minimalist yet heady sounds, a stark deviation from his dubstep-laden releases from his Bangers.Zip collection last year. From spoken work on “Know Time Like The Present” to sweet soul and R&B on “Won’t Be Gone Long,” to post-disco on “Nights In Shibuya,” Chasing The Golden Hour Pt. 3 showcases the talented producer’s versatilities within the production space and his ability to create his own stylistic lane.
