Kasbo offers double-sided album single release with ‘Staying in Love / Skogsrå’
It seemed improbable that Kasbo would be able to outperform himself following Places We Don’t Know, the Swede’s stunning full-length debut made in 2018 via Foreign Family. It took only a mere two releases from his upcoming sophomore album, The Making of a Paracosm, to potentially unseat this outlook as Kasbo prepares for his welcomed return to ODESZA’s label home.
As Kasbo’s LP nears its October 23 due date, he’s now adding a double-sided package of album singles with “Staying in Love” alongside Nea and “Skogsrå.” Fine-tuning his inimitable craft of musical storytelling, Kasbo pairs two sonically disparate yet thematically coordinated releases. The former is a beaming reunion with Nea. Kasbo concedes that he was initially reluctant to include it on the sophomore showing before the “Bleed It Out” songstress “convinced me that I needed to try to make it work for the album.”
Acting as the B-side, “Skogsrå” draws into Kasbo’s native Swedish origins, opening up in cinematic fashion before breaking into what he describes as his most “polarizing and unconventional” production to date.
