Lost Kings return to house stylings with DeathbyRomy on ‘Hurt’ as first single from incoming EP

When things to return to some semblance of normal, Lost Kings should rightfully have a seat at the headliners table, and, truth be told—it is hard to believe they didn’t beforehand. After doubling up on EP releases in 2019, delivering Paper Crowns and then Lost Angeles to finish out the decade, the West Coast producer pair is now ready to disperse the stash of music they’ve been snowballing throughout this year. In tandem with the announcement of their fifth EP, It’s Not You, Lost Kings are sharing the project’s lead single and their maiden release of 2020, “Hurt” with DeathbyRomy.

Teased alongside a trove of other soon-to-be released material in their quarantine streams and Instagram live sessions, including an all but confirmed Ty Dolla $ign collaboration, “Hurt” arrives as a laudable rebirth to Lost Kings’ inimitable house recipe and last-minute hopeful for song of the summer. With It’s Not You‘s due date still under wraps, Lost Kings supply a propitious entrance to the year and their new EP, connecting DeathbyRomy’s openhearted topline with a superlative deep house production. The duo expanded on what “Hurt” represents for them moving forward, stating,

“‘Hurt’ marks the beginning of a new chapter of Lost Kings. These songs on the ‘It’s Not You’ EP speak to the cycle of relationships that we’ve been through and our fans can relate to. We wanted to touch on people being in love but also wanting to keep their independence. Sonically, we wanted to continue exploring a new frontier while keeping the truest reflection of who we are.”
