Pasquale Rotella reveals EDC will head to Portugal for first time in 2021
Insomniac Events remains in control of the electronic music event space even despite COVID-19 clearing out everything in its path. In between Insomniac’s consistent schedule of weekly virtual festivals, the week of September 15, Pasquale Rotella teased that EDC would be making its storied return to Europe in 2021 for the first time since EDC UK in 2016. On September 20, the Insomniac Events head honcho officially disclosed the coordinates of EDC’s new home with the revelation of EDC Portugal.
Spread across three days from June 18 – 20, EDC Portugal’s first-ever edition will touchdown on the tropical beach of Praia da Rocha as part of the festival brand’s 25-year anniversary celebration. Five of EDC’s hallmark stages will be making the journey to the south of Portugal, with more than 140 yet to be revealed acts providing the waterfront acoustics. Rotella explained Insomniac’s choice of Portugal as EDC’s new location, stating,
“I’m so excited to bring EDC back to Europe for Insomniac’s first-ever show in Portugal. Growing up as a surfer in California, the beaches along the coastline of Portugal have always been a dream destination of mine.”
