Premiere: EDX delivers ‘tribute to the summer that never was’ on new single, ‘Indian Summer’

2020 has seen several creatives step up to soundtrack the COVID-19 pandemic, using music as the medium to raise listeners’ spirits. At the core of these sonic efforts is EDX.

After first breaking ground in the 2020 release ring in February with his debut original of the new decade, “Adore Me,” the Sirup Music spearhead exercised his signature move: keeping the content coming at a high caliber. Thus came an acoustic rendition of “Off The Grid” later that month, followed by a standard edit and extended version of “The Time Is Now” in April.

May saw EDX assert his conversion capacities for a club rinse of the aforementioned, a follow-up that set the stage for the mid-month arrival of “I Found You (Neptune).” Steady as ever, EDX continued the new content tear into April with “Umoja,” and after taking a short rest from the release circuit thereafter, the house tastemaker has now returned for “Indian Summer.”

Staying an upbeat course, “Indian Summer” is ambiance at its apex. The latest production to be released via the Sirup Music platform, “Indian Summer” sees EDX thread accenting vocals throughout the number in a complementary fashion. An easy flowing house experience with a bubbly sonic personality, “Indian Summer” is duly a fluid flex of EDX’s house expertise and a reminder of why he’s been so uniformly embraced for years in the dance context: his unwavering ability to harness house sound to animate the present, no matter its state.

EDX described the inspiration for the single, telling Dancing Astronaut,

“2020 has been one of the craziest years in living memory and it’s completely turned the way we all live our lives on its head. It’s been impossible to connect with fans in person over the past few months due to the huge number of restrictions on large gatherings, so releasing new music has been more important than ever. ‘Indian Summer’ is a tribute to the summer that never was, and I hope it gives people some joy in these difficult times. I can’t wait to see you all on the dance floor some day soon!”

“Indian Summer” will formally disperse on September 18, but listeners can stream the single a day early only on Dancing Astronaut.

The production precedes episode 500 of EDX’s veteran radio show, No Xcuses. To commemorate the milestone episode, EDX will play a livestream set from Positano, Italy on September 21at 1:00 p.m. EST / 10:00 a.m. PST. Tune in via EDX’s YouTube channel.
