Zedd re-ups ‘Funny’ with remix pack featuring Breathe Carolina, Marc Benjamin, and more
After turning heads in tandem with Jasmine Thompson via the release of “Funny” in July, and subsequently following the single with an acoustic version, Zedd is further revitalizing his first original of 2020 with a three-pronged remix pack. Out now via Atlantic and Interscope Records, Funny (Remixes) solicits spins from Breathe Carolina, Marc Benjamin, and Ellis.
The house influence on Breathe Carolina’s take is nearly palpable, with deep synths that steal the show at the breaks. In contrast, Benjamin ups the ante, spiking streamers’ adrenaline with a festival-suited flip that accelerates the BPM of Zedd and Thompson’s original. Of note, Benjamin’s contribution to Funny (Remixes) represents a sort of sonic encore; Benjamin previously graced January’s host of “Good Thing” reworks.
Last but certainly not least is Ellis, who puts forth a take that flirts with Daft Punk-esque sound and funk. Hear “Funny” re-envisioned below.
