Eric Prydz officially releases long-awaited ‘NOPUS’ ID
At long last, Eric Prydz has unveiled “NOPUS.” The previously unreleased track has become arguably one of Prydz’s most coveted productions, derived from a notoriously abundant vault of IDs. Since the cut’s premiere in 2016, fans have eagerly anticipated its official release. Now, the HOLO visionary returns with the first new material under the Eric Prydz banner since his debut album, Opus.
“NOPUS” first debuted at EDC Las Vegas, where the progressive maestro closed out his circuitGROUNDS performance with the number. Fans quickly dubbed the track “NOPUS” as a result of its frequent placement as set closer, causing “NOPUS” to displace Prydz’s iconic single, “OPUS,” which historically served as Prydz’s closing number.
Characterized by uplifting piano progressions and atmospheric pads, the release takes on recognized Prydz features in its masterful layering and electrifying climax. Similar to its companion, “OPUS,” the track journeys through an odyssey-like structure as signature snares and rapturous synths deliver an inspirational sonic playground.
“In 2015, I made a track called ‘Opus’…I actually made it to play as the last track of my set at EDC Las Vegas, the big festival in Las Vegas, and then obviously the track became a huge success, and the next year people were talking about, ‘Oh, I wonder what new track he’s going to play last in his EDC set this year.’ Which kind of made me feel like, ‘Ooh, I kind of… I need to pull out something special here,'” stated Prydz.
