Mat Zo innovates on third studio album, ‘Illusion of Depth’
The long-anticipated wait for Mat Zo‘s third studio album, Illusion of Depth, has come to an end. Returning to the label that housed his critically-acclaimed debut album Damage Control, the shape-shifting musician comes full circle as he delivers his newest full-length project on Anjunabeats. Featuring collaborations from drum ‘n’ bass legend MC GQ and Atlanta multi-instrumentalist Olan, the 11-track LP pans an exploratory look of dance music in club-ready vibrancy.
Imbued with dynamic energy, Illusion of Depth delves into electrifying sound design underlined by the all-familiar touch of Zo’s meticulous production. The album offers up progressive, trance, electro, dance-pop, and more as the Grammy-nominated producer draws influence from rock, indie, and country songwriting. With formative involvement from Olan who appears on three tracks, Illusion of Depth advances Zo’s boundary-pushing sound in new, vibrant forms.
