Slow Magic announces fourth studio album with ‘Carry On’
Masked producer Slow Magic is clearly sitting on an arsenal of tunes, announcing his upcoming LP, it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok, as his second project of 2020. Arriving on the heels of his acclaimed EP, Closer 2 U, which featured fan favorite collaborators such as Manila Killa, Shallou, and Woven In Hiatus, among others, Magic enlisted Brooklyn-based dream-pop duo Paperwhite for it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok‘s lead single, “Carry On.”
Released via Moving Castle, the arrangement comprises upbeat, steady leads on the verses backed by catchy vocals from Katie (of Paperwhite) and subtle guitar riffs that reflect diverse instrumentation. The lyrical melodies delve into euphoric synths and pounding bass at the break, pulling together an instant dance floor hit. Slow Magic reminisced on the track, which had been in development since 2019:
“‘Carry On’ came from a session with Katie Marshall from Paperwhite and Jeremy Silver in 2019. Coincidentally enough, the concept I was working on at the time for ‘it’s the end of the world, but it’s ok.,’ was a post-apocalyptic narrative where the focus was on getting through it and striving toward what was ahead. I had no idea the lyrics we came up with that day would ring so true in 2020…”
Magic’s fourth studio album, his first since 2017’s Float, will arrive on December 9.
