TroyBoi shares new single, ‘Mother Africa,’ proceeds from which will benefit Save The Children [Stream]
TroyBoi‘s seventh lap around the 2020 release ring has a philanthropic purpose. The successor to May’s “Lemme See,” produced alongside Eric Leon, “Mother Africa” sees TroyBoi step atop his sonic platform to put forth a single that promises to have impact beyond musical circles. The British vanguard exclusively told Dancing Astronaut,
“I made this track back in May, but I felt that with the recent events happening all over Africa, it was a good time to put this out to provide healing through my music. This then led me to want to take it a step further and donate a portion of the proceeds to charity. Knowing that I am able to help change the lives of vulnerable children in Africa and around the world through my music is a feeling beyond words.”
A portion of the proceeds from “Mother Africa” streams will benefit Save The Children, a humanitarian organization centered around the belief that “children have the right to remain healthy, educated, and safe.” Save The Children provides emergency care and resources, among other aid, to children in more than 100 countries around the world.
Regarding “Mother Africa’s” sonics, TroyBoi told Dancing Astronaut that the song not only embodies his ardor for “traditional world music,” but also pays homage his own African roots. TroyBoi said,
“I heard the vocal chants and they sent shivers down my spine. I was compelled to create a track that had a modern twist, something to expose these incredible traditional elements to a wider audience. As a lover of traditional world music and being half African, it was an instant calling for me.”
