Chris Lake and Armand Van Helden submit four-track EP of house mastery, ‘The Answer’

Nearly one month to the day of Chris Lake and Armand Van Helden‘s revelation that they had a collaborative four-track EP on the way comes The Answer, released in full via Black Book and Astralwerks. Preceded by the project’s title track, which samples Blind Truth’s Arthur Baker and Victor Simonelli’s 1991 staple, “Why Can’t We See,” the three new additions represent a seamless meeting of two distinctive yet related generations of house music.

The EP is the culmination of Lake’s serendipitous encounter with Van Helden years ago. The Grammy-nominated producer recalled the interaction, recounting,

“I bumped into Armand in Miami at a pool party and we exchanged emails. A month later, he hit me up and floated the idea of working together; the vibes were flying after we sat down on the first morning, chugging coffee, visualizing what could be made.”

The Answer cohesively represents the alluring combination of nostalgic house grooves and contemporary dance elements across its four cuts, on which Lake and Van Helden’s allegiance to each other’s musical influences is as clear as their own synergy.
