Malaa and Habstrakt cement French connection on first ‘Illegal Mixtape Vol. 3’ extra, ‘Riot Gear’
It’s jarring to comprehend that Malaa and Habstrakt are two certified icons in the French house universe, but had yet to collectively conspire, that is, until now. Not even two months removed from the former’s third Illegal Mixtape series installment, Malaa unexpectedly spilled that he has three more annexations ready to pile onto the compilation’s already extended tracklist. While the identity of the two others is still under wraps at the time of writing, Malaa is partnering up with his fellow countryman for a collaboration sent down from house heaven, “Riot Gear.”
Habstrakt’s self-description of “Riot Gear” is as defensible as humanly possible, with both him and Malaa certifiably representing “some dark evil shit” to the nth degree. Candidly wearing its name on its sleeve, “Riot Gear” is a priceless manifestation of what a meeting between the two Frenchman could have resulted in, flashing a sinister house endowment that only Malaa and Habstrakt are capable of.
